Rumors - June 15th, 2010

* I am being told that Jason Spezza WILL NOT be traded!

* Alexander Semin is very much available.

* Martin Brodeur will not be traded.

* With having a former Canadiens goalie as a source, I can confirm to you guys that Jose Theodore would be VERY open to re-joining the Habs this summer, unless, he receives an offer that would make him a team's number 1 goalie.

* Being told that the naming of Dion Phaneuf as captain has a few bodies upset in the Leafs dressing room. I will not be divulging any names.

* Chicago are desperately trying to trade Cristobal Huet. I am being told they may have found a possible suitor! They would be getting contracts back, but those contracts would be easily moveable and will be moved if a trade does indeed happen.

* Dustin Penner to Montreal very much in play. I would even say, the negotiations are passed the half way mark ;)

* Patrick Marleau very likely to stay in San Jose

* Maxim Afinogenov has rejected an offer from the Atlanta Thrashers. Afinogenov wants no less than a 3 year deal. Ouch!

* Hearing that the New Jersey Devils are trying to get a deal done to acquire the rights to Dan Hamhuis.

I have ALOT of Chicago news coming to me later on today.

Pierre McGuire was REALLY close to becoming the Lightning GM

I have received information today regarding the process of hiring Steve Yzerman as GM in Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay had 3 legit contenders for the GM spot. Steve Yzerman, Pierre McGuire and one other whose name I don't have. In the final hours it was between McGuire and Yzerman, and I am being told that McGuire was no more than 2 hours away from becoming the Lightning GM because TB were told that Yzerman was really considering another offer he had received from a different team ??? Finally, Yzerman contacted the Lightning a few hours after and decided to accept the Lightning's offer. I found this information rather interesting and I have been trying desperately to find out what other position Yzerman was considering but I have not been able to find anything out yet.

Got to feel bad for Pierre McGuire, but congrats to Steve Yzerman!

Last Minute News On NHL Buy-Outs

I have just received this news as I was updating other posts. I am told we could see numerous buy-outs this summer before July 1st, here is the list i just received from a source I trust very much.

Georges Laraque - MTL
Jonathan Cheechoo - OTT
Michael Ryder - BOS
Todd White - ATL
Sergei Samsonov - CAR
Cory Sarich - CGY
Cristobal Huet - CHI
Patrick O'Sullivan - EDM

and more all over the league. However, a buy-out does not go over too well with fellow GM's. What we might see are a few trades between these teams to give these players a different scenery with new teams.

Ethan Moreau and Robert Nilsson are 2 other names just popping up from the Edmonton Oilers.

Updates on Canadiens injuries

Andrei Markov has said to be feeling much better and way ahead of schedule. He is walking with a light limp and has already hit the bike. He WILL be ready for training camp, no doubt about it!

Benoit Pouliot is in rough shape. I am told he has aggravated his wrist injury, he has back problems, and a pulled muscle in his leg. He played through all that throughout the playoffs.

Tom Pyatt was also in the room being treated but no news on his condition as of yet.

NHL Rumors - June 14th, 2010

Craig Ramsay is on top of the list to coach the Atlanta Thrashers. Same goes for Michel Therrien in New Jersey.

Jose Theodore and the Capitals are no longer talking. Theodore is gaining interest from....Yes, the Montreal Canadiens. Along with other teams.

Last I heard on Ilya Kovalchuk, he wants to play in Russia for a few seasons at least.

Leafs are trying to get their hands on a offensive forward. Luke Schenn could possibly be in the negotiations.

The Ottawa Senators will try anything and everything to get their hands on a young defenceman from the Los Angeles Kings.

Canadiens are receiving offers for both Jaroslav Halak and Carey Price. Habs are also looking to get bigger upfront this off-season. Names I am hearing: Aaron Asham, Todd Bertuzzi, Matt Hendricks, Matt Cooke, Dustin Penner, Colby Armstrong.

Penguins have one name on their shopping list: Anton Volchenkov.
